You may have gotten all the shopping out of your system at the bottom of a pile-up in the toy aisle of Target on Black Friday, but if you haven’t, you should consider buying small and/or local today, on Small Business Saturday.
And wouldn’t you know it — I happen to have a small business with some fun items to choose from.
Need to stuff some stockings? I’ve got you covered. For the cooks in your life, why not give some sweet recipe cards (two designs to choose from)? Got a friend who’s brimming with Southern pride? These Tennessee note cards will be a hit. Is someone you know a champion of and cheerleader for Memphis? This Memphis typography collage print will look smashing on his or her wall or desk. I can even have it framed for you. Does your mother still insist on sending a thank-you note for even the tiniest kind gesture she receives? (Mine does, and I think that’s awesome.) Then consider gifting her a unique set of cards you can guarantee she won’t find at The Dollar Tree.
What about that coffee enthusiast you know? Bam. That person who can sew anything? Holla. The bookworm? Booya.
Plus check out the photo prints that are available and get creative! Grab a few 4×6 prints and group them together in interesting frames to make a larger wall piece. Look, I know you have access to HGTV; I’m sure you know all about this kind of thing. The point is, all this stuff is made right here in Memphis, Tenn., with love and sweat and cat hair.
Happy shopping!
One of the very best things about fall in the South is that it’s when the cotton fields really start to shine.
I haven’t made the trek to my parents’ house much these past few months, but the journey always takes me past some of the most beautiful fields — like the one pictured here — along Highway 64. It’s one of my favorite places to stop and photograph when I can.
There’s something about that bright blue sky and those specks of white expanding over the horizon that just sings.
Here’s a listing for my Cotton and Clouds photo, but I’m more than happy to create a custom listing for any of the photos you see here or over at my Flickr, should you prefer them.
It should shock no one to know that sometimes my tastes run a little dark, toward the macabre. That’s what an upbringing in a loving, well-adjusted family will get ya these days, I guess. Sorry, Mom and Dad!
So I have had maybe a little bit too much fun stocking the shop with spooky stuff for Halloween and Day of the Dead, both of which are rapidly approaching.
Photo prints
It all pretty much started with these guys right here:

I took this photo a few years ago and converted it to black and white and put it in the shop around this time last year. Since then, it’s been consistently the most treasuried and viewed photo in my shop. At Cooper-Young Festival, I got lots of comments on it. People wanted to know where I took it. It was disappointing to hear that it was a strand of skeleton garland and not a pile of bones I stumbled upon while spelunking. Oh well.
(Note: This photo is in the shop right now as a black and white print. I can easily ship you the color photo above if you prefer it. Just convo me and we’ll set it up.)
There’s also this guy, who appeared for a while on the back side of the free-standing Anderton’s wall after one side was demolished.

I have him hung above my toilet at home. As you do. (And as you can too.)
Stationery
So, having photos of skeletons hung around the house isn’t necessarily for everyone. Which is why I made a couple of Halloweenish card designs. You know, so you can spread the skull love.

Boo cards listed here*; Skully cards listed here.
Invitations
Having a Halloween party? Don’t want to spend a ton getting invitations prepared? I’ve got you covered. Just send me your information and I can plug it in to this 4×6 design featuring the skull print mentioned above. Then you can print out the invitations at home or at Walgreens or Office Max or wherever you prefer. (Or I can print them for you and ship with matching envelopes.) Super simple and I can guarantee you won’t have the same invitations as everyone else in town.
I’m always taking orders for custom work. See a photo you like and want it on an invitation or card? Just send me a note at theogeo at gmail dot com, or convo me on Etsy. I look forward to hearing from you!
*want this card without the word “Boo” on it? No problem. Just send me a note.
I have longed for this day since the first scorcher of the summer — it’s the first day of fall, at loooong last.
We’re still a little ways off from seeing the fiery reds and oranges of true autumn, so here’s a print you can put on your wall year-round to remind you of the sigh of relief fall can bring.
My Flickr stream is full of pictures of turning leaves. Noodle around in there for a while if you want. See one you love? E-mail me or convo me on Etsy and I can set up a custom photo print listing for you at just about any size — 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 12×18 and possibly even 16×20.
Hello, internet. Welcome to the corner of theogeo.com dedicated to the crafts, designs, digital downloads, paper goods, photography, and other knick-knacks that I plan to stock in my Etsy shop.
